COVID-19 Update

Update March 16th: In light of Somerville’s expanded state of emergency declaration, we have decided to close FLOAT at least through the end of the month. We will reassess at that time, taking into account CDC and City advice. If your appointment was canceled, we hope you’ll consider leaving your float credit on file with us and rescheduling. If you had an appointment on our calendar between now and the end of March, we’ll give you a call as soon as we have plans to come back.

Keep an eye on our facebook, twitter, or Instagram while you’re practicing your social distancing – we’ll keep posting. Thank you so much for your support! Stay healthy. 🙂

Small Business Saturday is November 30th

And we have a gift for You!

tl;dr: Buy a gift card in person at Float on Saturday, November 30th, and get a complimentary gift bag with goodies from us and other local businesses! First come first serve, while supplies last: we’ll keep giving them away until we run out.

What’s Small Business Saturday? It’s the day after Black Friday and a response to it. Small Business Saturday is a celebration of everything personal, community-focused, and local. When you buy gifts from and patronize local businesses, you’re creating jobs, keeping dollars in your community, investing in entrepreneurship, and supporting your neighborhood as a unique destination! Sometimes you can only get certain things from big companies, and that’s okay. We just like to thank you for choosing to support us and our fellows when you can. 🙂

What’s in the gift bag? A sample of new Float product McShea Dream Cream, a gift from Amal Niccoli Salon and KenkoDo Clinic in Ball Square, vouchers for body-positive More To Love Yoga with Somerville Scout cover girl Rachel Estapa, class passes for the brand new Barre3 Somerville location (due to open December 2nd), vouchers to our neighbor Daddy Jones, and a little handmade gift from me (Sara). There are also special gift packages from True Grounds and Taco Party in Ball Square. We’ll give those away to two lucky customers! We’ll also pick someone to get an extra float. Whew!

Thanks in advance for sharing floating with your friends and loved ones! Floating makes the world better.

Artist Program is back for 2019!

We love doing Artist Programs, and this year we’re back to the visual arts. If you’re a painter, illustrator, or sculptor, we invite you to participate in our fourth annual Artist Program project. Float three times for free, with the understanding that after the second float you’ll start an art project and finish it within one month. We think you’ll be amazed at everything your mind creates when you eliminate the distractions of the outside world.

For more information and to sign up, email us: artists@floatboston.com

Questions! You probably have questions.

Talking about floating with your doctor

Generally floating is very safe, although if you have concerns it’s always wise to run something new past your health care providers. I recently developed a list of general facts and medical-specific issues with an MD friend, with the intent of giving people the relevant info they need to discuss floating with their doctors. Please feel free to share!
